Just not a good defensive team. But still plenty of time to get it together. The 4th line is promising, for what they are expected to do. B Schenn needs to do more. Sick glove save from Emery on that OT breakaway, he definitely deserved better.

when couturier hit the post this thought went thru my head that they would need another goal; w/ 10 minutes left in the game i thought i must have been wrong. it is a real challenge to be a fan of this team. we all know they can and will play like they did tonight in the 1st and second periods and likely make the playoffs, but in the meantime we have watch whatever it is they call this. not bad enough to be drafting high, not quite good enough to win the cup.......

This franchise really has to stop spoiling the fan base.

Flyers will win easy vs. the Ducks. Can't take any team seriously that has a castoff stiff like Maroon on their top lIne.

Watching Edmonton-Vancouver. Good game.

Haven't watched any Flyers from earlier. Not in the mood to make myself mad.

I'm still not sure what they expected. I didn't see them as a sure bet playoff team, but I also didn't think they'd be this bad. You can excuse talent, but the compete wasn't there either. They are an out and out mess.

Just a guess, but I don't think they expected this -- because they re-signed Timonen.

I don't know that anybody felt this was a Cup contender, and I feel Hextall admitted as much when he said they weren't in the top tier.

But Hextall and company sure weren't thinking that Timonen wouldn't be able to go and that Coburn would be out already.

I don't know what to make of them, since I haven't watched tonight's game yet. But I said it yesterday: With Coburn out, it's going to be hard for them to not give up tons of shots and chances. They just aren't built to lock teams down.

More likely than not, particularly with Coburn out, they're going to give up goals. I wish that wasn't the case, but I know better. The only question is can they get points in these games until Coburn returns?

They can't even get the puck out of their own end. Worse, there were so many plays that were just dumb. They were hemmed in their own end, Schenn gets the puck next to Emery & he has a second or two. Instead of skating it or just getting it to Ray for a freeze, he rifles it low along the boards for an icing.

Del Zotto had a drop pass to nobody in the third. Literally skated to the blue line & left the puck there. Grossmann kept getting caught in no mans land, and got beat a few times because of it. Even MacDonald, who has looked really solid had a couple of poor passes that led to chances against.

The forwards were no help. Everyone got to running around, puck support was awful and the forwards couldn't generate anything on their own. The collapse was an embarrassment

So, I heard Connor McDavid is pretty good.

Montreal locked the Flyers in their own end quite a few times with average to undersized players on the ice... It was a little embarrassing, but i definitely came away with appreciation for the heart the Habs are playing with.

Even in the first period when up they had long moments when they could not clear their zone. In the second they actually did better. They were connecting on short passes better then they've shown all year and were skating as a five man unit.
The third to me it looked like the Habs turned up their pressure and the Flyers were sitting on the lead.

They've always been susceptible to a fast team that jumps on them on the forecheck and the Habs really did that well tonight.

Very disappointing because the Flyers looked like a much better team in the 2nd then they've shown so far this year.

Rinaldo had a very good game. Couts was great.
Simmer looked great. Amac through 2 periods and even Schultz for two were good.

Emery was good, deserved a W.

I'm not sure Coburn would have really made A diffrence the past couple of games... plus, it's not like he had been playing particularly well before he got hurt.

I get the feeling that Hexy can't wait to tear this team apart when the handcuffs finally come off... and why would Ed Snider be calling for patience if they seriously felt this years team would be better than last? It's only year 2 of a five-year plan.

All of that, imo, boils down to talent, and the Flyers lack a few high-end/elite pieces other teams possess.

Lot of speed and talent on the Habs, even if they are small.
Galchenyuk is going to be a stud. Hard not to love the heart of Gallagher.
And just like Elias in the last game, captain turtleneck is a Flyer killer and did it again tonight.

The worst part is, Price gave up a couple questionable goals while Emery played above his head and made some very good saves...

It's just that sometimes this team is so amazingly dumb. That's what kills me.

Meanwhile Hextall & Berube are talking controlling the puck on zone entries and even that evaporates. Against Boston you could see they were trying to carry it in more, but tonight, they were dumping it in at the slightest pressure.

Even in the first period when up they had long moments when they could not clear their zone. In the second they actually did better. They were connecting on short passes better then they've shown all year and were skating as a five man unit.

So, for what feels like the millionth year in a row, a fast and well-coached team forechecks them silly when they sit back.

One day I'll understand why professional teams struggle with the same things over and over.

Heart, skill and smarts. The Flyers got predictable, the Habs read what they were going to do,were aggressive enough to force a predictable behavior and ate the Flyers alive.
